CURD — frequently asked questions

Question 1

What is CURD?

Accepted Answer

CURD is a social marketplace. You find restaurants, shops and services through reviews and recommendations from people in your own network, then order, pay and earn rewards for it in the same app. The difference from a review site is that every review on CURD is tied to a real purchase, and the people writing them are people you actually know rather than anonymous accounts.

Question 2

Is CURD free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Downloading CURD, browsing, searching, reviewing and collecting rewards are all free, and there is no subscription for customers. A service fee applies only if you choose to pay with CURD at a business outside the marketplace. It is shown before you confirm, and it is never added to what the business charges you.

Question 3

Do I get anything for signing up?

Accepted Answer

Yes — a one-off AED 11 welcome gift, credited as soon as you create your account. You do not have to buy anything first.

Question 4

Which countries is CURD available in?

Accepted Answer

CURD operates in the United Arab Emirates. The businesses you will find are in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the surrounding emirates.

Question 5

Do I need the app, or can I use CURD in a browser?

Accepted Answer

Scanning the QR code on a restaurant table works in any phone browser — you can see the menu, order, split the bill and pay without installing anything. The app is what carries your points and CURD Coins between businesses, and it is where the AED 11 welcome gift lands. Marketplace orders need the app.

Question 6

How does scanning the code on a restaurant table work?

Accepted Answer

Point your phone camera at the QR sticker on the table. The menu opens in your browser. You order, keep adding through the meal, split the bill with the table, add a tip and pay when you are ready. The kitchen receives each order as you send it. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Question 7

How can I pay on CURD?

Accepted Answer

Debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or CURD Coins. At a partner business you can also show your profile QR code at the counter, which handles the payment, the loyalty points and the cashback in one scan.

Question 8

What if only part of my table pays?

Accepted Answer

The bill shows which shares have settled and which have not, so both you and the restaurant can see what is outstanding at a glance.

Question 9

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Refund terms are set by the business you bought from, and every business on CURD has to publish a policy that meets our minimum standard. That policy cannot take away rights you have under UAE law. Businesses must respond to a refund request within three business days. For food and fresh items you can cancel within five minutes of ordering for a full refund. Ask for the refund through CURD rather than directly with the business — that is what reverses the fees, points and Coins attached to the order at the same time.

Question 10

What is Good Until, and can I return those items?

Accepted Answer

Good Until items are heavily discounted because they are close to their date — surplus a business would otherwise throw away. They arrive with your normal order, there is a fixed quantity, and the offer has a deadline. They are final sale: once ordered, they cannot be cancelled or returned, and you confirm you understand that before you pay. You still get a full refund if an item is unsafe, not as described, or already past its date when it reaches you. You still earn loyalty points and CURD Coins on them. Promo codes do not apply, points cannot be spent against them, and the order has to be paid up front.

Question 11

Who am I actually buying from?

Accepted Answer

The business, always. CURD handles the ordering and the payment, but the seller is the business itself, and they issue the invoice for what you bought.

Question 12

What do I actually get back when I buy something?

Accepted Answer

Up to four things, and each business sets its own rates. Loyalty points from that business, to spend with them next time. A review bonus, in the same points, once you leave a review. Cashback as CURD Coins if you share a post, reel or story. And sometimes vouchers from a partner brand. The business's own discount comes off the bill first, and everything above is calculated on what you actually paid.

Question 13

What is a CURD Coin worth?

Accepted Answer

One CURD Coin is one US dollar, which is AED 3.67. The dirham is pegged to the US dollar, so what you earn today is worth the same when you come to spend it.

Question 14

Where can I spend CURD Coins?

Accepted Answer

At any business on CURD — not only the one you earned them at. You can put them towards any bill, including when you are paying at a table. Loyalty points work differently: those are specific to the business that issued them, and you spend them with that business.

Question 15

Do my points or Coins expire?

Accepted Answer

Loyalty points stay valid for the period each business sets, so spend them before then — expiring points are shown first. The review and content bonus has to be unlocked within 48 hours of the purchase. CURD Coins lapse 12 months after they are credited if they have not been used. You will be notified before that happens.

Question 16

Am I paid for leaving a good review?

Accepted Answer

No, and this matters. The bonus is for leaving a review, not for leaving a positive one. A one-star review earns exactly the same bonus as a five-star one. Paying only for praise would make every rating on the platform worthless, including the ones you rely on.

Question 17

Can I get paid for recommending a business?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If someone acts on your recommendation and buys, the business pays you for it. You are paid by the business, never by your friend, and only when a sale actually completes.

Question 18

Are reviews on CURD anonymous?

Accepted Answer

No. Reviews on CURD are public and carry your name. That is deliberate — a recommendation from a name people recognise is worth something, and an anonymous one is not. Nothing is ever posted on your behalf. You choose what to write and when.

Question 19

Can I review a business I did not buy from?

Accepted Answer

No. Every review on CURD is tied to a verified purchase. It is the reason a CURD review is worth more than a review anyone can post.

Question 20

Does my review also go to Google?

Accepted Answer

It can. The review lives on the business's CURD profile, and CURD copies it so you can paste it on Google if you like. The Google step is optional.

Question 21

How does CURD decide what to show me?

Accepted Answer

CURD AI reads what people in your network bought, reviewed and went back to, then answers with places and products rather than a page of links. It looks at who in your network runs a business, what they bought and bought again, which recommendations turned into actual purchases, and the negative reviews as well as the positive ones.

Question 22

Can people in my network see what I spend?

Accepted Answer

No. What you paid, the date you bought it and the items on your bill are never shown to anyone — not to your network, not to the business, and not on your profile. Your card details are never shown to anyone at all. What is visible is what you choose to share: your reviews and recommendations, with your name on them.

Question 23

Does CURD itself use my purchase history?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we would rather say so plainly than have you work it out. CURD AI reads your purchase details so it can learn what you like and recommend accordingly. That data is read by the system to make recommendations. It is not displayed to other people.

Question 24

What does a business see about me?

Accepted Answer

Very little. A business receives an identifier that does not reveal who you are, a display name, and whether you are eligible for a reward. They are not permitted to try to obtain more than that. A business also cannot use anything it learns through CURD for its own marketing without a separate lawful basis for doing so.

Question 25

Who owns the photos and reviews I post?

Accepted Answer

You do. Content you create stays yours. A business can view and analyse it inside CURD, but to use it anywhere else — an advert, their own social accounts — they need your prior written consent, given by you for that specific use. CURD cannot give that consent on your behalf.

Question 26

How do I delete my account or my data?

Accepted Answer

Write to support@curd.network from the address on your account and we will action it. Your rights over your data, including access and deletion, are set out in the Privacy Policy.
